North Bend

The North Bend Brass Band was developed according to Bishop Paul Durieu's reduction system. The photograph below is unique in that it is the only one that has surfaced (to date) that includes both Bishop Durieu and one of his brass bands.

In the centre of the photograph Bishop Durieu, Father LeJeune, and the Very Reverend J.M. Fayard with a large group of First Nations People outside the Roman Catholic Church at North Bend, B.C. The North Bend Brass Band stands to the immediate right of centre of the photograph, ca. 1890.
